The Film Society of Lincoln Center and Giant Step present John Hughes Tribute After-Party

I think that anyone who went to high school in the 80's can completely relate to any John Hughes movie.  That's the problem with stereotypes, they're TRUE!!  His movies have been criticized heavily through the years, but still stand the test of time.  Even kids these days can recognize the characters portrayed, put iPhones in the kid's hands and wholla, same kids, same problems!!

I'm extremely pleased The Film Society of Lincoln Center and Giant Step will tribute the late, great John Hughes.  His films are a time capsule of a time where the popular kids always drove the fastest cars, had the perfect hair and always made the football team.  You also can't forget about the geeks!!

Knowing that John Hughes spent his early years in Michigan (as did I), it all starts to make sense.

Loris Diran S/S 2011

Loris Diran Spring 2011 Show Tonight!

This show will mark Mr. Diran’s eighth New York presentation and only the third in which he will create an exhibition of his work. Guests will be able to see the intricate details from an intimate prospective and will provide a deeper vision of the designer’s point of view. Says Diran, “I love a runway spectacle, but a presentation of this kind provides me with the ability to dwell on the concepts along with my audience”. Sponsored by AUDI, their spacious, uber-modern Park Avenue showroom will play host to this event, adding state of the art effects and multi-media visuals, further enhancing the experience. As always, Diran’s Original hair styles will be created by CHRISTO 5th Avenue and make up will be designed by DEX NEW YORK.

This season also heralds in Loris Diran’s first collaboration with Korean shoe Designer JINNY KIM, whose luxurious women’s collection has earned her a loyal following worldwide. Diran and Kim will debut the “Jinny Kim for LORIS DIRAN”collection, which features summery styles in sumptuous hides.

The Spring/Summer 2011 women’s collection, entitled “URBAN OASIS”, draws its inspiration from a number of unlikely places in the designer’s broad scope of influences. The sun faded colors in soft tones, baked in the desert heat, sizzling New York City pavements, the soothing hues of summer’s blossoms, and the folded details of traditional Bedouin apparel. They come together to create an aura of simplicity, yet intricately detailed… that exude delicacy, but do not surrender a sense of ‘edge’.

Tonight!! Fashion Night Out!!!

What is Fashion's Night Out?

Founded in 2009 by Vogue , the Council of Fashion Designers of America, retailer NYC & Co. and the city of New York, FNO is a splurge-inspiring celebration of fashion. Designers, celebs, models and clothes-loving kindred spirits turned out en masse for last year's inaugural shopping party. This year, FNO events will take place from New York to West Hollywood , South Korea to the United Kingdom.

Last year's event will be very hard to beat!!  I spent most of my time around the Meat Packing District and attended an after-party at Kiss and Fly (what a night!!).

Here are some pics from last year with Diane Von Furstenburg (love her!):
Check out the official website and plan the fun!!  http://www.fashionsnightout.com/
